Nearly 2000 pollution hot-spots have been identified by campaigners across England, wales and Northern Ireland.
Air pollution doesn’t just affect those whose health is already compromised. It’s been linked to dementia, heart disease and miscarriage in recent studies. It’s a big health issue and the are highlighting how small reductions in air pollution can help reduce some damage to health.
As well as playing an important role in helping us to relax, reset and rebalance, houseplants clean the air we breathe and have a positive impact on our health.
Research carried out by NASA shows that houseplants can help play a part in reducing pollution in our homes.
There are some lovely houseplants to consider but below are some that are not only great for purifying the air but that are easy to look after.

Snake PlantA succulent that releases oxygen at night, making it a great plant for your bedroom. It is also good for filtering benzene, formaldehyde and xylene. |
